Himalayan

The Himalayan (a.k.a. Himalayan Persian, or Colourpoint Persian as it is commonly referred to in Europe), is a breed or sub-breed of long-haired cat identical in type to the Persian, with the exception of its blue eyes and its point colouration, which were derived from crossing the Persian with the Siamese. – source: Wikipedia.org: Himalayan (cat).

The Himalayan was developed in the 1930s by crossing Siamese cats with Persians. Dr. Clyde Keller of the Harvard Medical School and breeder Virginia Cobb of Newton Cattery are credited with first attempting this cross with the intention of getting a Persian cat with Siamese markings. After several cross-breedings, they settled on a male cat they named Newton’s Debutante to be the first official Himalayan. – source: catster.
